california

im a little late posting these, but wanted to show yall some more pictures of our trip to california. we went with our dear friends matt and amber to pebble beach, then drove to san francisco for a couple of days. it was SO fun! we went to the pro-am golf tournament in pebble beach- got to see lots of professional golfers and celebrities (including, but not limited to, JT- and jessica biel, peyton manning, kevin james, and bill murray) we stayed in a very fancy hotel, ate very fancy food, and made lots of fancy memories... it was also valentine's day AND matt's birthday, so we had lots of reasons to celebrate...and celebrate, we did... :)
a view of the course- it was amazing. we had the best time walking from hole to hole...although, i must admit, the best part was the skybox because you could still see the course, it was warm, and they had free food :)

we thought it would be fun to climb on the rocks...looks more fun in the picture...

we went to the monterey aquarium- it was SO cool. here are some jellyfish for you to enjoy...

we love us some lehmans :)

there's a first time for everything...

we went to california this past weekend...more to come on that...but this picture deserved its own post. dave played for a yahoo event in pebble beach on friday night. it was a night to remember...i GOT UP ON STAGE and sang bgvs (background vocals, for all you who dont know the lingo.)
what in the world was i thinking??!?
ill tell you what i was thinking...there were maybe 5 people in the audience- including me, matt, and amber lehman- who were even sortof paying attention to dave, i thought i would jump on stage and a.) support my sweet hubby who wasnt getting enough love from the audience, b.) throw him for a total loop and surprise the crap out of him, and c.) fulfill one of my wildest dreams...

done, done, and done.

weekend in texas

i spent the long weekend in texas- dallas, waco, and austin, to be exact. it was so perfect. i got to hang out with life-long best friends, see dave play TWICE, score some free "secret sauce" from common grounds in waco, meet fun new people (shout out to sarah and russell), play with adorable little girls, eat some amazing food, and end it all with a 16-hour ride back to nashville :)

here we are with ridg, dendy, and millie...and little raney on the way :) dave and dendyb were flirting BIG time- she wanted to be his girlfriend. i was a little jealous.

we took the girls by to see the guys during sound check- i was amazed that the girls were able to stand all that loud noise. reed quickly contributed it to taking them to saints games as babies. lets go saints! who dat!

the whole crew of us went to reed and caroline's favorite breakfast joint on saturday morning. here we are from left to right...nathan dugger, daves guitar player, dave, me, ridg, dendyb, sarah and russell lindsay, millie, reed, drew and ellie holcomb, paul mabury, daves drummer, and de-la, dave's bass player. we took over the restaurant and had the most amazing breakfast! loved me some oatmeal pancakes with granola and scrambled eggs!

this is in waco- caroline and chad and i met for the afternoon there so they could hand me off and we could hang out.
dave and paul were trying to make caroline feel better about her bump. i think it worked.

then its me with dave, caroline ("ridg") and haley ("chad"). these girls are what i call life friends- they have known me and loved me forever. i should give them a trophy or something. most of you nashville friends dont know how mean i used to be. thankfully, the Lord has been gracious because i am different now, i hope.

**sidenote confessional** i remember in the 4th grade when chip overton called to ask me to "go"...i told him that i hated
him and hung up. he's probably still in counseling for that.

and in 6th grade, i intentionally dropped my history book on aaron lemasters' head. he probably still has a bump. i could go on, but for the sake of trying to keep this concise, ill leave the rest to your imagination.

all that to say- chad and ridg remember it all (along with some more of you), and they still love me. we have watched eachother grow up and i cant tell you how truly PROUD i am to call them my friends. they are freakin awesome. they have both married amazing guys and i just love being with them. its such a blessing to still have them in my life- and its not easy. things change as you get older, but i think the secret is, allowing eachother to change and being honest about it. i realized that you cant expect your high school friends to be the same people they were in high school, or the relationship will never grow- and you will never know them for who they are.
you have to learn who they are becoming- and be willing to share it with eachother...and thats why i love these girls so much. i LOVE who they are, who they are becoming, and i am thankful to be a part of it. i love you guys.

and finally, here we are backstage in austin...just hanging out. all the shows are great. drew and ellie holcomb are opening right now and they are just awesome. everyone's having a blast being together. if you get a chance, you should try to go to one of their shows this spring. fun times...

ok, ok...

since the camel pics were so well received, i thought i would give you just a couple more. these didnt make the cut the first go round because i didnt want to bore you with pictures of dave and barrett on a camel, but on second thought...it might provide even MORE entertainment :)

important things to notice:
1. they are both holding on to the handle on the back of the saddle. why? i dont know.
2. they are both significantly leaning back. why? again, i dont know.
3. dave's camel is trying to get intimate with barrett.
4. if you could see their faces at this moment, you would see a look of terror.

i made them smile, but you can see that neither of them are taking a hand off that saddle. nope. they are holding on for dear life. haha. and, notice again, their camels are still tied together. i just loved that.

cairo

ok, ok...this is the last official post from our trip. these pics are fun...we spent a couple of days in cairo just being tourists. it was super great. some of these pictures look totally photoshopped, but i promise we were really there! enjoy :)

these are the 3 great pyramids at giza...remember this from your 5th grade history book?

we went down below one of the pyramids into the tomb...
ok, so this camel thing is, without a doubt, one of the top experiences of my life...and it wouldnt be the case if i hadnt been with dave and barrett. notice in the pic, their camels were tied together- thats because these boys acted like 8 year-old girls! they were so nervous our guides thought they would be better off connected...i couldnt stop laughing. barrett was worried the WHOLE time we rode that daves camel was going to "get him". and dave swears to this day that his camel was drunk...but we all know better than that.

i just had to include a close up of barrett. that HAS to make you laugh. man, that was a good time.

us in front of the sphinx. doesnt that look fake?

the inside of a mosque.

just a view of the city...

we also got to see king tut's stuff- the mask, the furniture, the jewels, etc...it was really cool, but we werent allowed to take pictures, so no documentation, but definitely worth commenting on...

so, there we are...hope you enjoyed reading the comments and seeing the pictures. if you dont remember anything else...

...you guessed it...

join the mocha club!
